High-Level Emergency Care

Cabarrus County EMS is a model EMS system that provides advanced paramedic-level care to the residents of Cabarrus County.

We respond to about 33,000 calls each year and our service boasts a response time of 7.2 minutes, one of the best in the state.

Cabarrus EMS remains on the cutting edge of technology with state-of-the-art equipment and protocols, including 12 Lead EKG, RSI, Pit Crew CPR, TXA, adult intraosseous, capnography, and CPAP. We operate under an aggressive set of patient care protocols.

Established in 1973, EMS operates 11 ambulances with 24-hour coverage, one peak load unit, community paramedic, and one supervisor in a quick response vehicle out of 10 stations.

Team members work 12-hour shifts.

The system is involved in many areas to improve patient care such as community education and advanced cardiac/stroke programs.

The agency also supports multiple specialty response teams, including tactical medics, state medical assistance team, motorsports track medics, hazmat medics, ATV medics, ambulance strike teams and bomb squad support.

Lentz Tapped To Lead Department

Jimmy Lentz credits the supervisors he’s had over a 28-year career with preparing him for his new role as Director of Cabarrus County Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

“I have been fortunate to work for and with some of the best EMS administrators in the nation,” Lentz said. That experience made him confident in accepting the promotion.

Lentz served as assistant director since 2013 and was officially named director on March 30, 2018.
