Fire Marshal's Office

The mission of Cabarrus County Fire Services is to protect life, preserve property and promote safety through education, code enforcement, investigations and emergency response with Cabarrus County Public Safety agencies and providers.

Through emergency manpower response to emergency scenes and provision of staffing grants to volunteer fire departments, an enhanced response program exists to benefit the safety of our citizens.

What We Do

The Cabarrus County Fire Marshal’s Office (FMO) provides fire preventive services through education, code enforcement and investigations.

The FMO coordinates with local fire service providers to ensure adequate and efficient service delivery. We review construction documents, issue permits and inspect occupancies according to the NC Fire Code. The FMO also provides technical expertise and guidance for departments in maintaining their insurance rating through the State Fire Marshal’s office.

The FMO provides 24/7 emergency response countywide.

Squad 410 Manpower Unit

The County launched a fire manpower response unit, Squad 410, in January 2017 to augment response of our volunteer departments on emergency scenes in Cabarrus County.

The unit will respond with certified firefighters with specialized equipment to operate on manpower-intensive emergency scenes to help volunteer departments. It will also be certified EMTs and Hazardous Materials Responders. The implementation of this program is to help maintain a level of protection when volunteer response is reduced due to decreased volunteer availability.

Staffing grants help provide additional manpower in each of the qualified volunteer departments. These grants are used for dedicated personnel to enhance response.

Since implementation of this program in 2006, we have seen a decrease in overall response times for most of volunteer departments.
