County Parking Deck Construction Project

The Parking Spot

Cabarrus County is constructing a five-story, 614-spot parking deck on the corner of Corban Avenue SW at Spring Street SW, across from the Cabarrus County Courthouse in downtown Concord. The project will help address parking demands for courthouse activities.

During construction, which is expected to last through March 2019, courthouse visitors are encouraged to park in the County’s Surface Parking Lot 2 next to Fifth Third Bank, between Church Street and McCachern Boulevard.

The construction zone will extend into and require adjacent sidewalks along Barbrick Avenue SW, Spring Street SW and Corban Avenue SW to close. Traffic on Barbrick Avenue SW will shift around the construction zone, which will extend into on-street parking and some roadway. Construction is not expected to impede travel on Barbrick, which is a one-way street.

The County expects that, much like Concord’s municipal deck, the courthouse deck will also support growth in downtown Concord, and evening and weekend visitors to the area.

Cabarrus County awarded construction of the parking deck to Messer Construction Company. Morris Berg Architects and engineers Kimley-Horn completed the design and will provide construction administration of the project.
