Precinct Official Appointment
Our precinct officials are key people during an election. Officials are appointed by the Cabarrus County Board of Elections to serve for a 2 year term. The appointments are made in August of odd numbered years. A registered voter’s party affiliation, residential address and character are factors when being considered as a precinct official. NC Election Laws & Rules have specific requirements and restrictions when appointing precinct officials.
Precinct officials are required to work on Election Day from 5:30 a.m. - 5:45 a.m. (time will depend on precinct location) until closing of the polls and reconciliation of the election - usually 8:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Precinct officials are also required to help set up the precinct on Monday before the election (times will vary according to precinct).
Precinct officials are your friends, co-workers and neighbors. We need your help too!
