Real Property Tax Values

Revaluation - Real Estate

Cabarrus County is currently working on a revaluation project to be effective January 1, 2020. We conduct a countywide property revaluation every four years to keep pace with changing market values.

Appraisers from the office of the County assessor evaluate over 600 neighborhoods in Cabarrus County. We appraise one neighborhood at a time and evaluate properties based on the characteristics and sales history of each neighborhood. Since the effective date of the revaluation is January 1, 2020, all appraisals are based on market conditions and sales prices that occurred during 2019. We will continue to use the values established for January 1, 2020 until our next revaluation, which is scheduled for January 1, 2024.

Assessed values used to generate your 2019 tax bills were based on the 2016 revaluation.

After receiving appraisal notices, property owners have 30 days to request an informal review from an appraiser. If a taxpayer is not satisfied with the decision of the appraiser or failed to request an informal review within the thirty days, they may appeal to the Cabarrus County Board of Equalization and Review.
