Repurposing the Stonewall Jackson Training School

Part I: Beautification

If you happened to travel along Old Charlotte Road in Concord recently, you may have seen some activity around the abandoned structures at the old Stonewall Jackson Training School site.

Cabarrus County is collaborating with state officials to seek out new opportunities to use and preserve the historic location.

In the video below, Deputy County Manager Jonathan Marshall takes us to the facility and discusses potential plans.

Part II: Engineering

As part of the redevelopment process, County crews cleared several areas of the historic Jackson School property, including the iconic bridge over Old Charlotte Road. In addition to improving curb appeal, the clean-up also helped clear the way for UNC-Charlotte’s Engineering program to gather information about the integrity of the structures that still stand on the grounds.

Learn more about the collaboration in the video below.

Part III: Technology

In our third video feature (below), Deputy County Manager Jonathan Marshall presents Commissioners with tech tools the County is using to market the Stonewall Jackson Training School property to developers.
